JAMMU, Mar 7: The terms and conditions for setting of Langars in the Yatra area have been revised to take care of various concerns including the maintenance of hygienic conditions in the Langar area, environmental protection, non use of plastic materials etc. Several binding clauses in this regard have been incorporated in the revised terms and conditions.
Giving further details, Preet Pal Singh, Additional Chief Executive Officer, Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, informed that the number of Langars have also been suitably revised keeping in view the recommendations made by National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and other Security Agencies. In this regard a number of representations received from various organisations including the SABLO, led by Vijay Thakur, were considered in several rounds of discussions with the CEO.
Navin K. Choudhary, CEO, has informed that while the number of Langars during Yatra 2014 will be less as compared to that in Yatra, 2013, in view of the recommendations made by expert bodies, rationalistaion has been achieved in a manner that all Langar organizations which are otherwise eligible, have set-up Langars in the past Yatras and do not have any disciplinary proceedings pending against them, will be eligible to set up langars in Yatra 2014.
Besides SABLO, led by Vijay Thakur, which held several rounds of discussions with CEO, the latter received representations on varied grounds from other Langar organizations like SAYBO, led by Rajan Kapoor, and others in their individual capacities.
During his meetings with the Langar organizations, the CEO has impressed on them to take all necessary measures to provide hygienic food, as per the approved Food Menu, to the Yatris. He has also cautioned Langar organizations not to use plastic materials, which are banned in the State. The SABLO representatives presented several constructive suggestions regarding Yatra management which are being considered by the CEO.
