JAMMU, Mar 7 : Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), Jammu & Kashmir Region organized a seminar on ESI Scheme at Godrej Factory at Kathua, as part of ESIC’s foundation fortnight celebration, to increase the awareness among the stakeholders. Over 40 stakeholders representing employers / companies, Employees, Human Resources Executives of various industries at Kathua participated in the seminar.
Sunil K. Mehto, Deputy Director, ESIC explained various provisions of Employees’ State Insurance Act, 1948 relating to contributions and consequences in defaults on compliance with the provisions of the Act. Ramesh Lal, Branch Manager, ESIC, Kathua gave an overview of all the benefits available to covered insured employees like full medical care, cash compensations during sickness or maternity of employees and benefits available to dependants of the employees dying in harness due to employment injuries and accidents. Provision of full medical treatment provided to the beneficiaries, besides compensation for salary losses due to sickness, accidents, etc as well as pensionary benefits to the dependants of the employee who meet with fatal accident during the course of employment, including while traveling to and from the work place were explained.
Regional Director, ESIC Jammu & Kashmir Arvind Kumar underscored various salient and unique employee friendly features of the ESI Scheme such as eligibility for treatment of self and dependant family members for 90 days immediately after registration of an employee, on providing Temporary Identity Card to the him by the employer- which facility has been provided online to the employers, provisions of superspeciality treatments, grant of advance for treatments, reimbursement of cost of treatment to employer or employee in case of treatment when an employee meets with any accident, etc.
He stated that several measures have been taken under the ESI Scheme in the State to provide medical care to the beneficiaries, besides cash compensations under the ESI Scheme, which includes nine ESI Dispensaries, one ESI Hospital and tie-up with 17 reputed private hospitals.
