Srinagar, May 4: Following the emergence of an “inappropriate” video from a leading coaching center here, an amalgam of NGOs today expressed concern over the incident, seeking necessary action.
In this regard, the heads of these NGOs held a press conference, voicing serious concerns about the proliferation of inappropriate content marred with vulgarity within educational institutions in Kashmir.
Chairman of Kashmir Concern, Dr. Touseef Ahmed, in collaboration with like-minded NGOs, stated that they have been closely monitoring the situation and have observed a disturbing trend of videos and “vulgar content” being circulated and consumed within educational institutions.
“This trend not only undermines the moral fabric of our society but also hampers the academic growth and character development of the students,” he said.
He emphasized that education should be a platform for nurturing young minds, fostering critical thinking, and promoting values of respect, decency and integrity.
“The infiltration of inappropriate content within educational settings not only goes against these principles but also poses a grave threat to the future generations of Kashmir.”
He, along with other NGOs, including J&K Federation for All Societies & Trust, Rahmatan Lil Aalmeen Foundation International, and Athwass Group of Humanity, stressed the need for immediate action to address this issue.
The heads of the NGOs highlighted that in recent years, the education system has faced myriad challenges that have significantly impacted students’ well-being and academic success.
“One such pressing issue is the alarming rise in student drug addiction, which has been fueled by various factors within the educational landscape,” they said.
Others present on the occasion included Dr. Ayub Mattoo, President of JKFAST, and Sheikh Firdous Ali, Chairman of Rahmatan Lil Aalmeen Foundation International.
