JAMMU, May 7: Deputy Commissioner (District Magistrate), Sachin Kumar Vaishya has underscored the urgent need for promoting road safety education among the youth. “Educating our young drivers is paramount to enhance road safety,” he stated while chairing the road safety meeting today.
The session brought to light the critical areas across the district prone to accidents. A focused dialogue on specific high-risk locations was a key agenda item.
The meeting deliberated on the strategic placement of reflectors as a preventive measure against accidents. The discourse extended to emergency interventions essential for the protection of drivers and pedestrians alike, promoting safer driving practices throughout the city and district roads.
In line with the discussions, officers received directives to identify and report on black spots. The provision of adequate street lighting was also featured in the talks, highlighting its significance in accident prevention.
Furthermore, the meeting took a firm stance on the necessity of reflector application on heavy vehicles, a measure aimed at reducing the risk of night-time collisions.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Shishir Gupta; Director IT (DIO Jammu) Sanjeev Kapoor; SSP Traffic Faisal Qureshi; Chief Planning Officer Uttam Singh, RTO Jammu besides senior officers of line departments.
