GMCA hospitals record million OPD visits, 74k IPDs

SRINAGAR, May 8: Nearly 10 lakh patients received care in the Outpatient Department (OPD), while 74,569 patients were treated in the Inpatient Department (IPD) across the GMC Anantnag’s Associated Hospitals in the last one year.
In a handout issued here, the GMC stated that, in addition to patient admissions, a total of 18,888 surgeries were performed during the period, including 4,325 Caesarean sections. Overall, a total of 971,387 patients were received in the OPDs.
Principal GMC Anantnag, Prof. (Dr.) Rukhsana Najeeb, praised the staff’s work and noted the achievements at MMABM Hospital Janglatmandi, where 595,222 patients were seen in the OPD and 47,155 in the IPD.
The hospital conducted over 8,838 surgeries across various specialties and administered 636,260 laboratory tests, 3,154 endoscopic procedures, and 2,958 echocardiograms. Additionally, 6,920 dialysis sessions were completed.
The MCH Hospital Sherbagh, also managed by GMC Anantnag, recorded 356,974 OPD visits and treated over 27,414 inpatients. This hospital performed 5,026 surgeries, including 4,324 Caesarean sections, and conducted 235,695 laboratory tests.
The Department of Radiology, serving both MMABM Hospital and MCH Hospital, carried out 45,497 ultrasounds, 89,874 X-rays, 12,635 CT scans, and 53,821 ECGs, providing critical diagnostic services.
“The Department of PSM at the Urban Health Centre Brakpora and Rural Health Centre Sagam offered comprehensive healthcare to 19,191 OPD patients, along with 9,010 laboratory tests and 2,041 dental procedures,” GMC stated.
The institution is expanding its scope of services, including cancer surgeries, pacemaker implementations, Fibroscan services, and CT-guided biopsies, GMC said.
Currently, GMC Anantnag is home to over 118 Post Graduate DNB candidates across various clinical and non-clinical departments.
“The college intends to start MD and MS post-graduate courses, with the process already underway. It’s also noteworthy that the first batch of MBBS and Paramedical students will be graduating this year.”
