KHC opposes intermingling return with relief measures

JAMMU, June 28: Kashmiri Hindu Conference (KHC) expressed serious concern over the intermingling of rehabilitation and return of the community with relief measures.
The organization which met here today under the chairmanship of M L Thusoo discussed in detail the recent memo approved by State Cabinet and submitted to Union Government. It while, expressing satisfaction over the move regarding enhancement of cash relief however cautioned against linking the same with return and rehabilitation of the KPs in Valley for which the situation is not conducive.
Mr Thusoo said that the return package must be safe, secure, attractive and dignified which will attract the cream of the community to return to Valley. He stressed on settling the community at a one single township as per its aspirations.
Convener KPC P L Kaul Badgami stressed the community to cooperate with the Relief Organization in view of the various steps, which have been taken by the Relief Commissioner to mitigate the sufferings of the migrants.
He however expressed concern over the non inclusion of displaced Pandits in the package who have sold their land after 1997 and saying that majority of migrants fall in this category. Others who spoke included K L Ganjoo, A K Sadhoo, M L Daftri, S N Raina, A K Bhat , G L Koul and M L Koul.
