JAMMU, May 9: Ex-servicemen Welfare Association of Akhnnor today discussed their burning issues during a meeting held at Akhnoor town today.
A meeting of the ex-servicemen of Akhnoor and Khour area was held in the town under the chairmanship of Naval veteran, Lakhbir Singh Sohal. The members discussed the functioning of ECHS Polyclinic, CSD Canteen and OROP, MSP, Disability pension and MACP to all ranks.
Discussion on future activities of the Association, including ways to enroll more members in the Association were also held. On the suggestion of the members, a new help cell to address the problems of ex-servicemen was formed which will be monitored and headed by veteran, Mani Ram.
The Chairman while addressing the meeting said that due to increasing menace of drugs, the day light robberies and theft cases are taking place. All the people are needed to remain vigilant. The ex-servicemen should keep an eye on the drug peddlers and their activities and suspected elements in their respective areas. The Government should issue cards to these entering J&K for labour and other works, he added.
The Ex-servicemen expressed their resentment over no progress on mysterious death of young Army jawan Amit Singh and missing of Navy sailor, Verma from Navalship on Feb 27, 2024 and urged the Government to deliver the justice.
Prominent among others present in the meeting included- Mani Ram Bhagat, Capt Santosh Sharma, Bodh Raj Bhagat, Kaka Ram, Raghubir Singh, Ramesh Chander, Subhash Chander and others.
