GREF employee found dead, family protest alleging murder

KATHUA, May 10: A young employee of GREF Border Road Organization was found dead today in mysterious circumstances at duty point Pranjali store on Dayalachack Road.
The deceased identified as Surinder Kumar (25), a resident of Sukho Chack (Hiranagar, Kathua) was on night duty at BRO store situated at village Pranjali. His body was found lying near his bed and a numbers of wound marks were seen on his face, neck and other parts of the body. The deceased was working as ‘chowkidar’ on daily basis since last few years with Border Road Organization.
Alleging murder, the family members of the deceased employee along with their relatives and other villagers blocked the highway while keeping the dead body in middle of road. They staged a strong protest, demanding a fair probe and arrest of the murderers while raising suspicion on colleagues of the deceased.
Due to protest, the vehicular traffic on the busy highway was affected badly. The protesting family members lifted the blockade and suspended the protest only when a team from Police Station Hiranagar and civil administration reached the spot and assured to investigate the matter and arrest of accused behind the crime.
In this connection, Hiranagar police had registered a case and started investigation.
