JAMMU, June 28: State Vigilance Organization registered a case against Zonal Education Officer (ZEO), Mendhar, junior engineer and five contractors, for fraudulent withdrawing money against construction of kitchens in the year 2009-10.
SVO spokesman said that, a case has been registered under FIR No 9/ 12 against Mohammad Latief, the then Zonal Education Officer, Mendhar, Zulufqar Ali, Junior Engineer, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, Mendhar, Mohd Shabir, Mohd Taj, Mohd Wazir, Mohd Sharief and Lal Hussain, contractors for fraudulently withdrawing Rs 3.6 lakh against construction of six kitchen sheds during the year 2009-10 in six schools namely Primary School Tajuwalla, Katrian Pathanateer, Dhani Peer, UPS Naker, Garanabana and Boys Middle School, Chatral.
He added that verification of the same revealed that these six kitchen sheds at aforesaid school premises were not constructed, resulting in loss to the State exchequer and corresponding wrongful gain to the above mentioned accused persons.
Investigation of the case is in progress, he added.
