JAMMU, May 12: Dogri Sanstha Jammu organized multilingual Kavi Goshthi (poetic meet) at Dogri Bhawan, Dogri Sanstha, Karan Nagar Jammu, in which prominent poets of Dogri, Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu participated.
The Kavi Goshthi started with tribute paid to eminent Punjabi poet Surjit Patar who left for heavenly abode yesterday morning. Swami Antar Neerav displayed Surjit Patar’s last recording of one of his poems.
Thereafter Sushil Begana, Literary Secretary, Dogri Sanstha Jammu started the proceedings of Kavi Goshthi. The poets who participated in Kavi Goshthi included Prof Lalit Magotra, Susheel Begana, Promila Manhas, Pawan Verma in Dogri, Kamaljit Chowdhary, Krishan Kumar, Sudhir Mahajan in Hindi, Dr Baljit Singh Raina, Swami Antar Neerav, Balwinder Singh, Javid Rahi in Punjabi, Liyaqat Zafri, Deepak Aarsi and Ankur Rastogi in Urdu language.
While presiding over the function, President of Dogri Sanstha Jammu, Prof Lalit Magotra said that it was a very successful Kavi Goshthi as all the participants have carved a niche with colossal contributions in their respective languages.
He assured that such an initiative will be a regular feature to promote literary culture in the region wherein prominent poets will continue inspiring others to pen down meaningful poetry, a necessity of time also.
This multilingual Kavi Goshthi was attended by quite a good number of litterateurs and poetry lovers of different languages.
