Srinagar, Mar 10: The Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (BOPEE) has cancelled the admission of 9 MBBS students who had sought it fraudulently by purchasing question papers of Common Entrance Test (CET)-2012.
The cancellation of the admission of nine students has taken the number of MBBS students whose admission was cancelled to 21. The candidates whose admissions were cancelled are Aina Hilal, Arooja Mushtaq, Obaid Yousuf Lone, Yasmeen Jan, Wajid Majeed, Ruhail Ahmad Mir, Imtizaj-ul-Hussain, Danish Majeed and Meem Hai Mehrah Dar. These students were pursuing the MBBS course from Government Medical Colleges of Jammu and Srinagar.
The BOPEE counsel today submitted before a Division Bench of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court comprising Justice Hasnain Masoodi and Justice D S Thakur that the BOPEE at this stage is not in a position to absorb the deserving candidates after the cancellations of 21 admissions of CET-2012. He submitted that the deserving candidates will be absorbed in 2014 session.
The BOPEE cancelled the admission of 9 MBBS students after Crime Branch established their involvement in seeking admission through fraudulent means.
The BOPEE acted against these nine students after they received a communication (dated 15-02-2014) from Inspector General of Police, Crime Branch. The communication says that a supplementary charge sheet has been produced before the Special Judge Anti-Corruption Srinagar (under Sections 420, 406, 201, and 120-B read with Section 5(1) and 5(2) of PC Act) against nine more candidates, who have been found involved in the conspiracy to obtain admission for MBBS course by fraudulent means.
The BOPEE had issued show cause notices to these candidates for explaining their position. The show cause notice addressed to these nine candidates asked them why their admission may not be revoked.
“Having regard to the facts and circumstances of the case, the selection of these students pursuing MBBS in GMC, Srinagar and Jammu is revoked and their admission in the said college is cancelled and Principal GMC Jammu and Srinagar are requested to struck off them from rolls of the college”, says status report of the BOPEE filed before the court.
The report filed by Crime Branch says: “The acquiring of assets by Mushtaq Peer, the prime accused in the case, are under sharp focus and investigations have been carried out in Delhi where property is reported to have been purchased by him. And one of the properties in the form of house in Jammu purchased by Peer in 2013 is also being investigated.”
The Court also directed the Telecom companies to provide required call details in two days to the Crime Branch who are investigating the BOPEE scam.
