Heavy snowfall plunges Kashmir in dark

Srinagar: Kashmir valley today experienced heavy snowfall throwing life out of gear and plunging entire valley in darkness.

 

Srinagar had a fresh snowfall of 5 inches, Baramulla 9 inches, Anantnag 7 inches, Shopian one feet, Gulmarg 18 inches while hills in entire Kashmir experience fresh snowfall of over one feet.

 

All schools in Kashmir valley have been closed upto March 12 due to the fresh snowfall.

 

The Divisional Administration put the snow clearance machines into service since morning to clear snow from main roads of the city. Majority of the areas in the Valley are snow bound and are disconnected from the main cities and towns.

 

The water logging caused due to faulty drainage system led to problems for commuters and pedestrians in commuting.

 

And snowfall plunged Kashmir into darkness since last night adding to the miseries of the people.

 

The Jammu-Srinagar highway has also been closed and efforts to restore it are going on.
