JAMMU, June 28: In a petition filed by two love birds, Vacation Judge of High Court, Justice J P Singh today directed the Police Department to ensure protection of the couple.
It was submitted by petitioner Rutmeet Kour that she has married out of free will but her marriage was not liked by her father, who has filed a false and frivolous complaint on the basis of which FIR was registered at Police Station Bahu Fort.
Seeking protection against interference in her married life, she told the court that there was imminent threat to her as well as life of her husband.
During the course of the consideration of the petition, Rutmeet Kour’s father appeared in the Court along with his counsel Advocate A M Malik and submitted that petitioner Rutmeet Kour was not in a fit state of mind and whatever stated by her in the Court was because of influence of her husband and his relations.
After hearing Advocate Deepshikha Gupta appearing for the petitioners and Advocate A M Malik appearing for father of the girl, Justice J P Singh impleaded father of the Rutmeet Kour as respondent in the petition and issued notice to all the respondents for their response within one week.
“In view of the material placed on records and the submissions made by Rutmeet Kour in person, it is considered appropriate to protect petitioner’s life and personal liberty against interference therewith”, the High Court observed and issued directions to the State respondents to ensure that the petitioners’ married life was not interfered with by father or anyone else until next date of hearing.
