JAMMU, May 15: Police in Jammu’s Akhnoor area claimed today they have slapped the stringent Public Safety Act (PSA) on a notorious criminal.
A police spokesperson said that acting on specific information, one Arun Kumar of Ward number 5, Raja Bazar, Akhnoor was detained and slapped with PSA.
Arun Kumar was a notorious criminal and history-sheeter of Akhnoor Police Station as he was involved in numerous heinous criminal cases, including those of criminal trespass, stabbing, and criminal intimidation, he said.
“Multiple FIRs were registered against Kumar at Police Station Akhnoor, highlighting his involvement in various serious offences,” the police spokesperson further said.
According to him, a warrant of arrest under PSA against the accused was issued by District Magistrate Jammu based on a dossier submitted by the Jammu and Kashmir Police.
The arrest was made by a team comprising SHO Akhnoor assisted by PSI Karnail Singh under the supervision of SDPO Akhnoor Mohan Lal Sharma and SP Rural Brijesh Kumar Sharma.
Pertinently, Jammu and Kashmir Police in Subdivision Akhnoor have detained 18 offenders under the PSA and PIT NDPS Act, besides attaching their properties worth crores as per per sections 68A ii(d) E & F and 82 and 83 CrPC.
