JAMMU, May 16: After arresting the kingpin of the Gataru Gang, Sumit Jandyal alias Gataru, and his brother Sourav Gupta, on May 11, another criminal of the infamous gang was booked under the stringent Public Safety Act (PSA) today.
Rohit Baloria, one of the key members of the Gataru gang, was booked under PSA and lodged in jail today, a police official said.
According to him, Baloria, a resident of Vijaypur Tehsil in Samba District, was involved in a number of criminal cases registered at Police Station Bishnah, Vijaypur, and Ramgarh.
“His criminal activities had posed a serious threat to the public peace and tranquility,” said the police official.
Following Baloria’s repeated engagement in criminal activities, a detention order against him was issued by the District Magistrate Samba based on a detailed dossier prepared by SSP Jammu, he said.
The arrest warrant was executed today by a team of Police Station Vijaypur led by SHO concerned, Inspector Zaheer Mushtaq, resulting in lodging of the criminal in District Jail Kathua.
