Six smugglers held, 75 bovines rescued

RAMBAN, May 17: Police here today under the supervision of SSP Ramban, Anuj Kumar registered seven FIRs, arrested six bovine smugglers, rescued 75 bovines and seized six vehicles involved in the crime.
Cops from Police Station Chanderkote intercepted a vehicle and during its checking found three bovines loaded in a cruel manner and were being transported illegally. One person was arrested in this regard.
In another instance, cops from Police Station Ramban intercepted three vehicles and during their checking 33 bovines were found loaded in cruel manner and cops arrested one smuggler while two others managed to escape.
Cops from Police Station Ramsoo intercepted a vehicle and during its checking found 26 bovines loaded in a cruel manner. One person was arrested in this regard.
In yet another instance, cops from Police Station Banihal intercepted a vehicle and during its checking found eight bovines loaded in cruel manner. One person was arrested in this regard.
In another instance, cops from Police Station Dharamkund arrested two persons who were taking five bovine animals on foot towards Kashmir illegally.
In the entire operation one case was registered at Police Station Chanderkote, three at Police Station Ramban, one at Police Station Ramsu, one at Police Station Banihal and one at Police Station Dhramkund under Sections 188 IPC and under Section 11 of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.
The investigation has been initiated into these cases.
