BSF cop among 2 drown in Tawi

JAMMU, May 18: Two young men, including a Border Security Force (BSF) constable, drowned in the Tawi River in the Kishenpur area under the jurisdiction of Jhajjar Kotli Police Station.
A police official said Rajinder Singh (19), son of Jugal Singh, and Abhishek Thakur (19-20), son of Ranjeet Singh, both residents of Kishenpur, went to take a bath in the river where they drowned around 7 pm on Friday.
The incident came to light when locals noticed their clothes on the riverbank and approached police for help, he said.

“Accordingly, a rescue operation involving the NDRF and police teams was launched last night,” he said, adding that after hectic efforts, the rescue teams recovered the body of one of the youth, Rajinder Singh, around 3 pm today from the river.
He said Rajinder’s body has been handed over to his family after completing the medico-legal formalities while the search for Abhishek Thakur, the BSF constable, who was an a 15-day leave, is still on.
