JAMMU, Mar 12: State secretary, Communist Party of India (CPI), Abdul Rehman Tuckroo called on Member Parliament (MP) and general secretary, All India Trade Union Congress, Gurudas Das Gupta and drew his attention towards the problems faced by railway employees and workers of J&K, who are on strike for past many days against lack of infrastructure and manpower.
Tuckroo apprised the MP that owing to lack of sufficient manpower, Railway has been confronting a number of problems in J&K. He alleged that on 44 stations, only 22 Station Masters are available, which has forced the railway employees and workers of J&K to adopt the path of strike.
The MP gave a patient hearing to Tuckroo and assured that matter would be taken up with Railway Ministry.
Meanwhile, Tuckroo also demanded that the construction work on 100 km railway track from Katra to Banihal be expedited. In this connection, Tuckroo also presented a memorandum to Dr Farooq Abdullah, Minister for New and Renewable Energy Resources and Ghulam Nabi Azad, Union Minister for Health.
