JAMMU, May 21: In a petition seeking implementation of Shetty Commission report so far as recommendations pertaining to the Ministerial staff working in the Subordinate Courts are concerned, a Division Bench of High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh comprising Justice Atul Sreedharan and Justice Puneet Gupta has directed the Registrar General to forthwith call a meeting of Law and Finance Secretary.
When the contempt petition came-up for hearing, the DB, after hearing Senior Advocate Sunil Sethi observed, “order dated 25.04.2024 passed by this court is still pending compliance. Additional queries have been sent from one of the contemnors to the High Court”.
“We are of the opinion that the contemnors are trying to procrastinate the proceedings, the contempt petition is pending since 2017 and we propose to give this case a quietus before Summer Vacation which commences from 8th June, and so, we deem it necessary to request the Registrar General to forthwith call for a meeting with the Law Secretary and the Commissioner/Secretary Finance Department latest by 26.05.2024 to find out the solution so that this court may pass appropriate orders on the next date of hearing —29.05.2024”, the DB said.
The DB further directed that a copy of this order under the signature of the Bench Secretary be delivered to the AG Office for intimating the same to the Law Secretary and the Finance Secretary. “This order also be conveyed to the Registrar General”, the DB added.
