JAMMU, Mar 13: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Jammu conducted 12th Scientific Advisory Committee meeting, today at KVK Jammu, R S Pura.
The programme was chaired by Dr P K Sharma, Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-J. In his presidential address, Dr P K Sharma emphasized KVKs to bring the technology to farmers and give feed back to University so that research programmes could be initialized keeping in view farmers problems.
There should be a very strong linkage between KVKs, line departments and farmers otherwise technology dissemination cannot be completed. He advised progressive farmers of Jammu to act as messenger for popularization of new technology among the farmers.
He appreciated the efforts made by Krishi Vigyan Kendra Jammu for the benefit of the farming community and hope for more in coming year. His address focused on Input optimization, water use efficiency, improving cropping system of the farmers and variety improvement programme and directed KVK scientists to work upon these emerging challenges to overcome constraints in agriculture production and productivity.
Earlier Dr K S Risam, Director Extension formally welcomed the members of SAC committee and deliberated upon the importance of conducting SAC for each KVK.
Dr Sanjay Khar, Programme Coordinator and Member secretary KVK Jammu presented the progress report and Action Plan for 2014-15. Officers from the line departments and progressive farmers of Jammu district actively participated and gave suggestion in finalization of Action Plan of KVK Jammu.
On this occasion Dr Ajay Koul, Director Research, SKUAST-J, district heads of different line departments, SKUAST-J , Radio Jammu and progressive farmers were present and actively deliberated in the proceedings.
