Sanskrit Sansthan holding 3-day national seminar on Shaivism

JAMMU, Mar 14: Renowned 81 scholars from all over country will take part in three days seminar on contribution of Kashmir to Shaiv Darshan and Sahitya Shastra being organized by Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan a deemed University at its Ranbir Campus, Kot-Bhalwal from March 19 to 21.
This was announced at a press conference here, today by the Principal of the Sansthan, Prof P N Shastri in the campus premises near here, today along with other teaching faculty members of the Sansthan including Dr Manoj Mishra, Prof Sharad Sharma, Dr Satish Kapoor, Prof Hari Narayan.
The three day seminar will be followed by a prize distribution function on March 22, he added.
He said the seminar will be inaugurated on March 22 by Governor, N N Vohra and It will be presided over by the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof N R Kannan. The first lady Usha Vohra will be the chief guest during prize distribution function on March 22, he added.
Among the well known scholars Padam Shri Prof Ved Kumari Ghai and Prof Vishwa Murti Shastri will also participate in the seminar, he said.
Prof Shastri said that 45 students will be presented awards on March 22 function.
The seminar will be held on both the topics i.e contribution of Kashmir to Shaiv Darshan and Sahitya Shastra Parampara. Terming Acharya Abhinav Gupt a great scholar of Shaivism, he said Adhi Guru Shankaracharya and Acharya Abhivnav Gupt are among top most Indian scholars whose philosophy is acknowledged all over the world.
He regretted that J&K is known all over India as Sharda Desh but people here are not themselves familiar of their roots. This State has thousands years old rich cultural history, he added.
The main objective of this seminar is to link the new generation to its rich cultural heritage and make the Ranbir campus a seat of Shaiv Darshan, he said.
Prof Hari Narayan highlighted the religious significance of Kashmiri Shaivism saying it has a unique place in all Indian Darshans.
Dr Manoj Mishra said that among the six Shiv philopophies which flourished in India Kashmir Shaiv Darshan has top most place.
Prof Sharad Sharma while highlighting the objective of the seminar said that it will help us to link the people to the thousands years old rich cultural heritage of the State.
