Blessed virtue of silence

“Well-timed silence hath more eloquence than speech” – Martin Fraquhar
Seldom has a word comprised of so many different interpretations that each one of them has immense power to define who you are and at the same time bound to have profound influence on your frame of mind like no other. Silence, it is. For some people, silence is void, the vacuum that needs to be filled with chatting, with Television, with music, with noise of any kind. That vacuum can be disconcerting and can make people feel uncomfortable and alone. For rest it is a way to connect to self amid worldly chaos, a means of achieving much-needed solace.
In everyday’s clamor, sometimes what we want to communicate in our interactions is not conveyed. The hindrance in its path turns out to be our own ego eventually, the root cause of all trouble. That void of inexpressible is effortlessly filled by resounding silence. The time we devote to understand that silence between ourselves and others, everything veiled that stalled our understanding diminishes and trust and contentment takes its place. In the sphere of daily hustle and bustle, we tend to move away from ourselves in a bid to achieve life’s set targets. Those targets we might achieve in the race of life but what is lost in between the process is so valuable that this gradual drift costs us considerable without us being even aware. Our thoughts get in the way of our reality sometimes and we don’t see the beauty of the world around us Whereas in Silence, that restlessness of finding the missing calms down as we turn our thoughts and focus inwards and gain the power that we need to refuel our minds. Our ego is temporarily switched off and we start to see the real world as it should be. When there is silence there is time for introspection and to allow your true self to speak, not the ego, not the conscious mind but the subconscious that whispers the rhythm of tranquil into our ears.
These moments with self need no exceptional set up, for that time transports you into the world of dreams and contemplation like no other, sitting in a cab or with files in hand in your office or the moments spent in indolent twilight hours or listening the quiet rhythm in the crashing of the waves in the darkening sands or watching the palms swaying merrily in the breeze, that time is solely yours. Sail by the imaginings hidden so far and take a journey to the depths of your own consciousness.
The state of silence is a way of reaching another part of your mind not possible when going about your daily routine. It is only then you discover the silence that lies underneath and beyond the surface noise in your mind that is your true nature. It is in silence that you feel the vibration of creation itself, that you hear the sound of the source. This when mind finally understands , it falls silent.
When Silence seems to be a bane, abandon it, let your voice be heard or this blessed virtue will be as doomed. When even your voice seems unconnected with yourself, embrace silence. Understanding its importance is the need of the hour. Silence is as powerful as depth of the words, as sharp as blade of a sword, as swift as sprint of a horse and as eloquent as voice of an orator. It is the looked-for contentment today, the ultimate predicament.
