UDHAMPUR, May 26: In a major success, Udhampur Police foiled an attempt of inter-State narcotics smuggling and recovered 320 kg poppy straw from a mini truck intercepted at Jakhani, here today.
The truck was coming from Srinagar to Udhampur and its driver among two smugglers, namely Dinesh Kumar, son of Bishan of Giraward, Haryana and Rajinder Sharma, son of Om Parkash of Giraward, Haryana, were arrested by the Police.
The vehicle (mini truck 407), bearing Registration number PB 10CR- 6750, was intercepted by a Police party, led by SHO Udhampur, Inspector Raghubir Singh, during naka checking at Jakhani.
During search of the vehicle, 320 kgs of poppy straw like contraband substance, packed in bags, was recovered. In this connection, a case FIR under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Udhampur.
