DGP sanctions Rs 5.9 cr as special welfare, ex-gratia relief

JAMMU, May 27: The Director General of Police (DGP) RR Swain has sanctioned Rs 5.9 crore as special welfare relief and ex-gratia relief for the dependents and the legal heirs of the martyred and the deceased police personnel.
As per a statement, the DGP has sanctioned an ex-gratia of Rs 38 lakh in favour of the Next of the Kin of the martyr DySP Himayun Muzzamil Bhat, who was killed in an encounter with the terrorists at Guri Nad Gadool, Kokernag, on September 13, 2023.
Additionally, the DGP has sanctioned special welfare relief of Rs 22 lakh each for the dependents and the legal heirs of Inspectors Raj Mohammad, Sanjeev Gupta; SI Kaka Ram; ASIs Dogar Mal, Sudesh Kumar; Head Constables Mohammad Shoket, Ajay Shard, Mukhtar Ahmad Lone, Mehboob Hussain, Santosh Singh, Gul Hassain; driver Head Constable Mohammad Sadiq; Selection Grade Constables Hari Krishan, Shekhar Chander Seth, Rakesh Kumar, Mir Mohammad, Rajinder Singh, and Muzafar Ahmad; Constable Mudasir Reyaz Dar; and Followers Babu Ram, Ganesh Dass, Mohammad Farooq Sofi, Haseena Rafiq, Bodh Raj and Shabir Ahmad Ganie.
The DGP also sanctioned Rs 6 lakh each as special welfare relief for the dependents and the legal heirs of deceased SPOs Ghulam Hassan Ganie, Rakesh Kumar, Angrez Chand, Ashoni Kumar, and Rohit Saini, who passed away while serving with the J&K Police Department.
These police personnel passed away due to illness, natural causes, or accidental death while in service.
As part of the special welfare relief, Rs 1 lakh each has already been paid to the families of deceased police personnel, and Rs 50,000 has been paid to the families of deceased SPOs for performing last rites through their respective units.
