JAMMU, May 27: The Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture, and Languages (JKAACL) hosted a mesmerizing musical evening today at the Writers’ Club, celebrating the evocative poetry of Ashok Angurana. This unique event seamlessly blended literature and music, provided a delightful experience for all attendees.
The highlight of the evening was the musical interpretation of Angurana’s poetry, beautifully composed by the eminent music composer Brij Mohan. The poetic verses found a new dimension and soared on the melodious wings crafted by Mohan, captivating the audience with their depth and harmony. Dr. Shahnawaz, Editor cum Cultural Officer, Gojri, JKAACL welcomed the guests on behalf of Bharat Singh, secretary, JKAACL. The programme, orchestrated under Bharat Singh’s insightful guidance, aimed to celebrate and promote the region’s rich cultural heritage.
Yog Rahi Gupta, a renowned freelance writer, graced the occasion as the chief guest. The function was presided over by Prof. Lalit Magotra, president of Dogri Sanstha, Jammu, who is known for his significant contributions to Dogri literature.
The evening featured soulful performances by talented singers including Sonali Dogra, Vanshika Jaral, Simran Sharma, Damneet Kour, Vivek Mohan, Ram Lal, and Rakesh Kumar. Their voices brought the poetic lines to life, adding a rich, musical texture that resonated with the audience.
Accomplished musicians Sunil Sharma (Synth), Rakesh Jasotra (Flute), Amit Anand (Tabla), Vikas Nagar (Guitar), and Khem Kumar (Dholak) provided the perfect instrumental backdrop, enhancing the overall ambiance of the evening.
The event was anchored by Promila Manhas, whose eloquent presentation added a special charm to the proceedings.
