UDHAMPUR, May 27: A three-day course on “investigation of traffic accident cases” commenced at the Police Academy here, with 19 officers from various units of the J&K Police participating.
A statement said that the course aimed at educating officers on the latest techniques in traffic accident investigation.
In his inaugural address, Rajinder Kumar Gupta, Deputy Director (Indoor Training), who was Chief Guest on the occasion, emphasized the importance of identifying the causes of traffic crashes and running awareness campaigns on traffic rules and handling accident victims.
He highlighted the need for attention to detail, the use of forensic tools and crash reconstruction software, and the preservation of evidence to prevent contamination.
Gupta also stressed the importance of empathy and professionalism when dealing with victims and witnesses, and the necessity of collaboration with traffic engineers, emergency services, and legal teams.
He underscored continuous learning and adherence to ethics and integrity as vital components of the investigative process.
Coordinated by Inspector Sandeep Mahajan and Head Constable Balbir Singh, the course aimed at equipping officers with the skills to conduct thorough and impartial investigations, ultimately enhancing road safety and justice in the community.
