Leh, May 27: The District Commissioner, Leh, Santosh Sukhadeve, conducted a comprehensive review of the physical and financial status of all National Health Mission (NHM) programmes for the fiscal years 2022-23 and 2023-24 today on May 27 at DC Conference Hall.
Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Leh, Dr Deskit Dolma, presented an overview of healthcare facilities and services in Leh District. The presentation covered a wide range of programmes including Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child, and Adolescent Health and Nutrition (RCH); Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK); Rashtriya Kishor Swasthya Karyakram (RKSK); Non-Communicable Disease Control Programmes (NCD); and the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP).
DC, Santosh Sukhadeve commended the department for ensuring that the government initiatives reach the patients and they are able to avail the facilities. He also added that for the welfare of Ladakhi society more and more focus should be on mental health.
CMO, Leh, Dr Deskit Dolma also discussed the key areas which included maternal and child health services like Janni Shishu Suraksha Karakram (JSSK), menstrual hygiene programmes, and child immunization. Adolescent health services were highlighted, including the Adolescent Friendly Health Clinic and Rashtriya Kishor Swasthya Karyakram (RKSK). Elderly and mental health care programmes such as the National Programme for Health Care of Elderly and National Mental Health Program (NMHP), and disease control programmes including the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme, National Rabies Control Program (NRCP), and National Viral Hepatitis Control Program (NVHCP) were discussed. Along with this palliative and non-communicable disease care under the National Program for Palliative Care (NPPC) and NP-NCD (NCD) were reviewed.
Additionally, she also presented the financial report for NHM Leh for the fiscal year 2022-23 and discussed the funds approved under the Record of Proceedings (ROP) for the fiscal year 2024-25.
The meeting was attended by the Additional District Deputy Commissioner (ADDC), Leh, the Medical Superintendent of SNM Hospital Leh, the District Tuberculosis Officer Leh, the Deputy CMO Leh, the District Immunization Officer Leh, the District Health Officer Leh, Block Medical Officers from Leh, Khalste, Nyoma, Tangtse, and Nubra, as well as the District Program Management Unit and other concerned officers and officials.
