Shiv Sena protests against water, power crisis

JAMMU, May 28: Shiv Sena (UBT) J&K unit here today staged a protest demonstration against increasing power cuts and poor water supply in the scorching heat.
Led by Shiv Sena J&K chief, Manish Sahni the protesters were holding placards in their hands with slogans like ‘Bijalee Pani De Na Sake Jo, Vo Sarkar Nikami Hai’ (the Government which is unable to give power and water supply is useless).
Sahni said that the people are upset with the announcement of 4 to 8 hours long power cut by the Electricity Department during this scorching heat.
He said that while installing electronic and smart meters, consumers were promised 24 hour power supply.
“If there is a slight delay in paying the bill, the power connections are snapped but there is no accountability for long power cuts,” the Shiv Sena leader maintained adding that J&K Lieutenant Governor should issue instructions to the concerned officers to ensure proper power and water supply in these days of scorching heat.
Shiv Sena general secretary, Vikas Bakshi; vice president, Balwant Singh; secretary, Rajesh Handa, Teetu Sehgal, Kamlesh Chib, Leela Devi, Nirmala Kour and many others were also present in the protest.
