JAMMU, May 28: With the arrest of one individual from Haryana, Police in Jammu District claimed today they have solved a five-year-old blind murder case of a priest that had the investigators puzzled.

According to a police official, the case involved the brutal murder of Baba Pragat Nath, a priest in a Shiv Temple in Shakti Nagar area of Jammu, on the night of November 15-16 in the year 2019.
Post murder, he said, a case FIR number 194/2019 under Section 302 of the IPC was registered at Police Station Bakshi Nagar and investigation taken up.
Thereafter, on the basis of technical evidence gathered by the investigating team, two persons were identified as key suspects in the murder case, he said. However, one of the suspects, Tarlok Singh of Muradabad, Uttar Pradesh, passed away later, he added.
However, the police official said that the main culprit Ashish Kumar of Kailashpuri Extension, Palam Colony, South West Delhi, was recently apprehended by the Police Station Bakshi Nagar from Jind district in Haryana.
On his detailed investigation, it came to fore that the duo was part of a gang involved in multiple criminal activities, including theft, cheating and murder, across Uttar Pradesh and Haryana, he said.
Following Ashish Kumar’s arrest, police have presented a charge-sheet against the accused for further legal proceedings.
