CAA for persecuted minorities

Sir,
The issuance of citizenship certificates under the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) is a landmark moment for persecuted minorities from Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan. Granting citizenship to these individuals aligns with India’s ethos of asylum and protection, rectifying historical injustices.
However, the Act’s exclusion of Muslim migrants raises valid concerns about its alignment with India’s secular principles. Ensuring transparency and fairness in the application process is crucial.
The Government must address the procedural challenges faced by applicants, particularly regarding technological accessibility and documentation. While the CAA’s implementation marks progress, it necessitates ongoing dialogue and adjustments to truly embody the values of justice and equality.
