JAMMU, May 30: Several political and social organizations as well as their leaders today expressed deep sorrow over the loss of 22 lives and injuries to 69 Shiv Khori pilgrims in an unfortunate road accident occurred today in Akhnoor area.
National general secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Incharge of J&K expressed deep sorrow over the bus accident. Chugh conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the affected families. He stated, “My heart is deeply saddened to hear the extremely sad news of the death of passengers from Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, in the tragic bus accident that took place in Akhnoor, Jammu. I express my deepest condolences to the bereaved families and wish for the speedy recovery of the injured.” “We are closely monitoring the situation and urge authorities concerned to ensure the best possible treatment to those injured in the incident.” he said.
National Conference president and Member of the Parliament from Srinagar Dr Farooq Abdullah and Party vice president Omar Abdullah expressed profound grief over the loss of lives in the fateful accident. Dr Farooq said, “I am pained beyond words to know about the loss of lives in the bus accident. My deepest condolences to the bereaved families! The administration should provide all possible assistance to the bereaved families besides extending medical facilities to those who are injured.”
Expressing anguish over the accident, Omar said, “The tragic bus accident in Akhnoor, Jammu, is heart wrenching. I am deeply moved by the loss of lives in the mishap and pray for fortitude to the grief stricken families. I also pray for the speedy recovery of the injured. I also impress upon the local administration to reach out to the affected with relief and compensation.”
General secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar, Additional general secretaries Sheikh Mustafa Kamal, Ajay Kumar Sadhotra, treasurer Shammi Oberoi, provincial presidents Nasir Aslam Wani, Rattan Lal Gupta and chief spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq also extended condolences to the bereaved families.
Chairman of the Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP), Ghulam Nabi Azad, while expressing deep sorrow said, “My heartfelt condolences go out to the families of the victims. I urge the Government to provide immediate compensation to the affected families and ensure the best possible treatment for the injured.” Azad highlighted the growing issue of road accidents in the Jammu region, stating, “Road accidents are on the rise in the Jammu region. He called for stringent measures to improve road safety and prevent future accidents, ensuring the safety and well-being of all passengers.
Expressing deep shock over the loss of lives of 22 pilgrims, JKPCC chief Vikar Rassol Wani and several senior Congress leaders urged upon the Government to provide immediate special medical help to the surviving passengers, besides financial help of Rs 10 lakh to the next of kin of deceased and Rs 5 lakh to the injured. They conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for early recovery of the injured.
The JKPCC leaders, which included vice president PCC Vinod Sharma, general secretaries Narinder Gupta (organization), Narinder Sharma, secretaries Sahil Sharma, Vijay Kumar Shastri, Chairman Congress Seva Dal Vijay Sharma, PYC Incharge HQ Ricky Dalotra, Chairman RTI Cell Advocate Bhavishya Sudan, vice Chairman Minority Cell Nassar Masih, Varinder Singh Manhas and Camres David, strongly condemned NHAI authorities for slow pace of work on Jammu-Poonch highway which causes frequent accidents occur on this highway.
Former Union Minister and Congress leader Prof Saifuddin Soz, while expressing grief and sorrow over the mishap, said, “I am pained beyond words to know about the loss of lives in a bus accident in Akhnoor near Jammu. My deepest condolences to the bereaved families! I wish speedy recovery of the injured. The administration should provide all possible assistance to the bereaved families besides extending medical facilities to those who are injured.”
Rattan Lal Gupta (Provincial president of National Conference Jammu) termed the incident unfortunate. “My heartfelt prayers go out to the families who lost their loved ones. May the Almighty give them the strength to bear this irreparable loss,” Gupta said in a statement. “I urge the Government to complete the ongoing road works on a fast-track basis. The safety and well-being of our citizens must be the top priority and improving road infrastructure is crucial to prevent such tragic incidents in the future,” Gupta stated.
Ajatshatru Singh (senior BJP leader and former Minister), expressed his deep condolences over the tragic bus accident, and conveyed his sorrow and sympathy to the bereaved families. “I am deeply saddened by the tragic loss of lives in this accident. My heartfelt condolences go out to the families who lost their loved ones,” he said and urged the Government to provide all necessary assistance to the affected families and ensure proper medical facilities for the injured.
Former MLC Vikramaditya Singh, in a statement issued here, prayed for the eternal peace of the departed souls. “My thoughts and prayers are with the families who have lost their loved ones in this tragic accident. May the departed souls rest in peace, and may the Almighty give strength to the bereaved families to bear this irreparable loss,” he said and urged the Government to provide the best medical care to the injured and offer adequate compensation to the families of the victims.
Senior BJP leader and former Minister, Bali Bhagat said, “My thoughts and prayers are with the families who have lost their loved ones in this heart-wrenching incident. I pray to God to give strength to the bereaved families to bear this irreparable loss.” He also extended his prayers for the speedy recovery of those injured in the accident. “I pray for the quick recovery of all those injured and hope they receive the best possible medical care and support,” he added.
President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industries Jammu, Arun Gupta also expressed his deep condolences. “I am deeply saddened by the tragic loss of lives in this accident. My heartfelt condolences go out to the families who lost their loved ones,” he said and called for adequate compensation to be offered to the families of the victims.
Gaurav Gupta, former general secretary of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Jammu, also expressed deep anguish over the tragic accident. “My heartfelt prayers go out to the families who lost their loved ones in this tragic accident. May the Almighty give them the strength to bear this irreparable loss,” he said in a statement. Gaurav emphasized the importance of road safety and called for measures to prevent such accidents in the future.
J&K BJP spokesperson and former deputy mayor of Jammu Advocate Purnima Sharma conveyed heartfelt condolences to the grieving families. She emphasized the urgency of providing the best possible medical care to the injured, urging the government to ensure that these individuals receive immediate and comprehensive treatment. Additionally, she called for adequate compensation to be offered to the families of the victims.
In a condolence message today, chairman of J&K Peoples Democratic Front (J&K PDF) and former Minister Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen expressed heartfelt sympathies with the bereaved families. He prayed for peace to the departed souls and compensation to the bereaved families.
JD(U) State general secretary Vivek Bali expressed his profound grief and sorrow over the tragic loss of lives in the bus accident. “I am deeply saddened by the news of the horrific bus accident in Akhnoor,” he said adding, “My heart goes out to the families of the victims during this incredibly difficult time. I extend my deepest condolences to them and pray for the swift recovery of those who were injured.
National youth leader NCP (Sharad Pawar) Rishi Kilam, while offering deepest condolences to the families who lost their loved ones, said, “This incident shows the negligence of traffic authorities”. He appealed the administration to provide better medical facilities to the accident victims and to provide adequate compensation to the families of deceased ones.
RS Chib, general secretary and Jugal Kishore Sharma, provincial president of DPAP, expressed their shock and anguish over the tragic bus accident in Akhnoor. Both the leaders visited GMC Jammu l to enquire about those, who were injured in the accident and also asked the hospital authorities, to provide them necessary treatment. They also expressed their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and demanded an immediate compensation and best of medical treatment to the injured.
