SRINAGAR, May 31: School leaders of Jammu and Kashmir shared their success stories at the STEM Elevate event in Srinagar.
Mehfooz Aslam, Academic Advisor at Delhi Public School Budgam, Rehman Waris, Director of GQ Public School, Vivek Arora, Principal of DPS Kathua, Faiq Rather, Director of Oxford Education attended the event.
Vivek Arora emphasised on joy of learning being essential if STEM subjects have to create new learning pathways while Mehfooz Aslam observed that real life relevance is essential for STEM’s holistic inclusion.
The event began with a compelling keynote address from Poonam Singh Jamwal, Director of Extramarks Education, who highlighted the significant role that the Union Territory has to play in realizing the dream of a progressive India. She stressed the importance of digital literacy, fostering creative and critical thinking, and making personalized education accessible and affordable for all.
She emphasised the role of schools and teachers in leading the path to excellence in education delivery and encouraged them to embrace Technology and STEM thinking at school.

As we look towards preparing our learners for the future, it’s crucial that we start integrating STEM concepts early in their education, particularly in middle school. This approach not only builds foundational skills but also ignites a lifelong passion for learning and innovation,” she said.
The participants agreed that STEM inclusion in early years in the curriculum, lesson plans and edtech platforms will empower the next generation of thinkers, problem-solvers, and innovators.
