JAMMU, May 31: The Government today constituted a Panel headed by Justice (Retired) MK Hanjura to fix the fee structure of professional colleges in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

A decision in this context was taken to comply with the directions of Supreme Court of India in Writ Petition (C) 350 of 1993 titled Islamic Academy of Education and another V/S State of Karnataka and others.
As per an order, the Panel comprises of Administrative Secretaries of Higher Education Department, Skill Development Department, and Health and Medical Education Department as Member Secretaries for looking into matters related to the concerned departments, and representatives of the Medical Council of India, now National Medical Commission (NMC) and all India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) as Members with a Chartered Accountant of repute to be nominated by the Chairman of the panel.
The committee so constituted shall function strictly as per directions passed by the Supreme Court in Writ Petition (C) 350 of 1993, titled Islamic Academy of Education and another V/S State of Karnataka and others, ordered the Government.
While the committee shall be serviced by the Health and Medical Education Department and its tenure shall be for a period of one year or till further orders, whichever is earlier.
