Cattle lifting attempt foiled, 7 animals rescued

JAMMU, June 1: A cattle lifting attempt was foiled by Police in Jourian area of the District.
A police official said that during naka checking at Chak Kirpalpur on the intervening night of May 31-June 1, a Mahindra vehicle tried to evade on seeing the police, but it was chased by a team of Police Post Jourian, led by Chowki Officer Sanjeet Singh.
“However, the driver of the vehicle, and his associates managed to escape,” he said.
During inspection, he said, 7 animals loaded inside the vehicle, lifted from nearby areas, were rescued.
The owner of the vehicle has been identified and police have launched a manhunt to nab him and his associates, said the police official.
Meanwhile, a case under the relevant sections of the law has been registered at concerned police station and further investigation taken up.
