Sinha casts vote in Ghazipur, urges people to strengthen democracy

JAMMU, June 1: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today cast his vote in Ghazipur district of Uttar Pradesh during seventh and final phase of polling. Sinha represented Ghazipur seat in Lok Sabha in 2014 and served as the Union Minister in Narendra Modi 1.0 Government.
Sinha cast his vote at village Mohanpura under Mohamaddabad Assembly seat and Ballia Lok Sabha segment in Ghazipur district of Uttar Pradesh.

“Cast my vote in Mohanpura village, Mohammadabad Assembly constituency, Ballia Parliamentary seat. I urge all voting today to turnout in record numbers and strengthen our democracy by exercising their franchise,’’ Office of LG J&K said in a post on X.
Sinha represented Ghazipur Lok Sabha seat from 2014 to 2019 and also served as the Union Minister.

Meanwhile, in Srinagar, Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat today met LG Manoj Sinha at Raj Bhawan.

In today’s Lok Sabha election, 53.53 percent votes were cast at Ghazipur seat till 5 pm today and the voting percentage may slightly go up. Sitting MP Afzal Ansari, brother of Mukhtar Ansari, who died in a jail few days back, is locked in triangular fight with BJP’s Parasnath Rai and BSP’s Umesh Kumar Singh.
A total of 10 candidates are in fray.
Afzal Ansari had won the seat in 2019 as a BSP candidate.
In Ballia Lok Sabha seat, BJP’s Neeraj Shekhar (son of former Prime Minister Chandershekhar is facing Samajwadi Party’s Sanatan Pandey and BSP’s Lallan Singh Yadav.
