JAMMU, Mar 17: The president of the State Samajwadi Party, and Ex-MP, Sheikh Abdul Rehman has expressed serious concern over loss of life and property of the people due to recent snowfall and rains and urged the Government to immediately press Government machinery to restore the road networks for transport of essential commodities and start relief work on war footing.
Addressing the office bearers of the party here, Rehman deliberated at length about the loss of life and property of the people in general and Chenab valley in particular due to recent snowfall and incessant rains.
Expressing anguish, the participants said that prolonged blockade of drains, roads and link roads have increased the miseries of people manifold. Huge loss has been reported from various corners to the houses of the people as also to the Government property including school buildings, which have put the lives of innocent school going children to great risk, they added.
Already huge loss has taken place in the entire Chenab Valley due to incessant tremors as the area falls in the seismic zone No 4 and 5, while the Government has remained mute spectator and now recent natural havoc has added fuel to the fire.
The State SP president urged the Government to immediately press Government machinery to action to restore the road for transportation of essential commodities as also to relieve the people stranded at various places.
