JAMMU, June 2: Dr. Rinita Mazumdar, Professor of Philosophy at the University of New Mexico, USA, visited the Jonaraja Institute of Genocide and Atrocities Studies (JIGAS), Jammu and interacted with the scholars and management of the institute.
The Chairman of JIGAS, Tito Ganju, welcomed Dr. Mazumdar to institute and informed her about its working on genocide with reference to Kashmiri Pandits and role of Jonaraja a great scholar of medieval Kashmir who has first given the concept of genocide.
Dr. Mazumdar, an esteemed alumnus of JIGAS, has made significant contributions to the field of genocide studies. Her invaluable research has been published in our respected journal, PAVAK, enriching the academic discourse on this critical subject.
During her visit, Dr. Mazumdar and Ganju engaged in meaningful discussions about future collaborations, aiming to further enhance our collective understanding and scholarship in genocide and atrocities studies. They also reviewed and discussed the current programmes and initiatives being undertaken by JIGAS, ensuring that our institute remains at the forefront of research and education in this field.
