KARGIL, June 5: Following his victory in the Ladakh Parliamentary constituency, independent candidate, Haji Hanifa Jan made his way from Leh to Kargil, receiving an enthusiastic reception at every stop along the way.
Jan, who was greeted by thousands of supporters en route to Kargil on key locations such as Khaltsi, Bodh Kharbo, Khangral, Wakha, Mulbekh, and Pashkum witnessed jubilant crowds welcoming him with traditional Khataks, garlanding him with white and colorful scarves in a show of respect and celebration.

Upon his arrival in Kargil, Haji Hanifa Jan addressed a massive public gathering at Husaini Park. In his speech, he thanked the people of Ladakh, particularly the residents of Kargil, for their overwhelming support and trust. “The support I received was beyond my expectations,” Jan remarked, expressing his heartfelt gratitude for the confidence placed in him by the voters.
Prominent leaders of the Ladakh Democratic Alliance, led by senior leaders Haji Asgar Ali Karbalia and Qamar Ali Akhone, along with CEC Dr. Jaffar Akhone, Feroz Ahmad Khan, Nasir Munshi, and various religious and social leaders, also interacted with the people. They expressed their gratitude to the populace for demonstrating the strength of unity in supporting Jan.
The victory of Haji Hanifa Jan, marked by such a grand welcome, signifies a momentous change in Ladakh’s political landscape as he prepares to represent the constituency in the Lok Sabha.
