JAMMU, June 5: Non-Gazetted Police Pensioners Welfare Forum here today staged a protest demonstration under the leadership of Ajit Singh, Forum chairman.
The protesters raised the issue of pay anomaly and said that as far as 5th Pay Commission is concerned they are being paid the benefits from the date of order while they demand it from the year 1996 when the 5th Pay Commission was implemented across the State and only Police Department was left.
Another demand of retired cops included medical facilities at par with those of paramilitary forces since the J&K Police is now under Home Ministry.
More demands included 10 per cent reservation in admission to professional colleges and in recruitments for the children of Police personnel and salaries to the present SPOs should be given timely.
The protesters raised the issue of retired Havaldar Ranjit Singh who lost his legs in February 1980 while on duty at Sunjwan during a blast and after some time he lost his sight due to diabetes and finally he retired in the year 2016 but no compensation has been given to him. The protesters demanded compensation for him.
