Eight smugglers held, 64 bovines rescued

RAMBAN, June 5: Police here today foiled 8 bovine smuggling attempts, registered 8 FIRs, arrested 8 bovine smugglers, rescued 64 bovines and seized 7 vehicles involved in the crime.
Cops from Police Station Batote intercepted three vehicles and during their checking found 28 bovines loaded in a cruel manner and were being transported illegally. Three persons were arrested in this case.
Meanwhile, SHO Batote intercepted one more person who was taking six bovines on foot towards Kashmir without any permission.
In another instance, cops from Police Station Ramban intercepted a vehicle and during its checking found 10 bovines loaded inside in cruel manner and were being transported illegally. One person was arrested in this case.
In yet another case, cops from Police Station Banihal intercepted 3 vehicles and during their checking found 20 bovines loaded inside in a cruel manner and were being transported illegally towards Kashmir. Three persons were arrested in this case.
Police have registered cases in FIR No. 80/2024, 81/2024, 82/2024 and 83/2024 at Police Station Batote, FIR No.129/2024 at Police Station Ramban along with FIR Nos. 91/2024, 93/2024 and 94/2024 at Police Station Banihal under relevant sections of law and started investigation.
