All India Radio (AIR) Poonch station, which was established in Poonch on Oct 1994 with warm ovation, no doubt is broadcasting very informative and interesting programmes. These progr- ammes, besides our regional and State news also covers national programmes. Our local languages especially Gojri and Pahari are also being promoted. Experts from the field on different topics concerning Agriculture, Horticulture, Education, Health, Social Welfare Deptt etc provide up to date information to the listeners, that too in our local dialects. Due weightage is also given to our national, religious and social festivals. For the entertainment of our ”fuji jawans” a special programme is daily in the air at 5.45 PM. Inspite of paucity of time and staff, the organizers and AIR functionaries leave no stone unturned in covering almost all the fields concerning the welfare of the living organism.
But there are certain fields which are still not covered due to very limited broadcasting hours placed at the disposal of the organizers. No coverage is given to our local news, day to day sports activities, department wise vacancies position for our educated unemployed youths and other employment avenues, market rates especially of essential commodities of daily use, weather forecast of the area etc.
So it is urged upon the concerned authorities to look into this genuine demand of the listeners and enhance timing of Poonch AIR station without further loss of time in the matter. At least there should be three broadcasting sessions i.e from 7.00 AM to 10.00 AM from 12.00 noon to 3.00 PM and from 4.00 PM to 11.00 PM daily. Facility to relay Vivid Bharati programmes from AIR Poonch be also covered for the benefit of the listeners.
