SRINAGAR, June 29: Kashmir Economic Alliance (KEA) and Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCC&I) have asked the people to resume their business and end the strike observed against the gutting of the shrine of Dastageer Sahib at Khanyar.
Asking the people to end strike, Mohammad Yaseen Khan, Chairman, Kashmir Economic Alliance said the gutting of Dastageer Sahib shrine is an irreparable loss and the same cannot be compensated. He said the people of Kashmir have lost a revered shrine that was held in high esteem by the people cutting across the religious lines.
“The Kashmir Economic Alliance appeals all the traders, transporters, hoteliers, houseboat owners, industrialists, fruit growers and contractors to end the strike and resume normal business from Saturday, June 30. We have already suffered a huge religious and heritage loss and at the same time we cannot afford further economic losses,” said Yaseen.
Yaseen asked all the people especially the district committees of KEA to come forward and contribute towards rebuilding of the Dastageer Sahib shrine. He exuded confidence that the shrine would once again come up as a marvel saying that everybody should chip in and do his bit in rebuilding the shrine to its own glory.
Yaseen took a dig at the State Government for imposing curfew in the areas of downtown Srinagar and said that the restrictions have led to alienation as they could not witness the damage caused by the devastating fire on June 25. He said the Government should stop harassment of the youth and take steps to heal the wounds of the people.
“The Government should institute an independent judicial enquiry into the fateful incident at the shrine. The enquiry committee should submit its report in a time bound manner so that the facts are brought to the fore. The Waqf Board has not been able to take adequate steps as regards the protection of the shrine. The incident should serve as an alarm to the people at the helm of the board so that concrete steps for the safeguard of all shrines are taken,” said Yaseen.
Meanwhile, Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry today appealed the Valley traders to resume business activities from Saturday.
KCCI President, Abdul Hamid Punjabi said that people should resume their business, adding that the gutting of Dastageer Sahib shrine is an irreparable loss. Punjabi said that the entire Valley is pained over the fire incident and that everybody is mourning the loss of Dastageer Sahib shrine.
