Manjit demands employment for locals in projects

SAMBA, June 9: Apni Party provincial president Jammu and former Minister, Manjit Singh here today demanded employment for local youth in industrial sector, highway widening project, AIIMS Vijaypur and Central University in Samba.
Addressing a meeting at Ghagour village in Vijaypur, Manjit Singh expressed concern over the increasing unemployment in Samba among the educated youth.
He said that residents of Samba have serious concerns over neglecting the local unemployed youth in projects and institutions in various sectors and the authorities must be held accountable for employing outsiders.
The Apni Party leader said that industrial sector has employed most of the staff-skilled and unskilled from various parts of the country ignoring the locals.
He said that LG administration should look into the issue and ensure that the youth are provided employment at their home town.
Singh also expressed concern over youth turning to drug addiction and crime because of the irresponsible approach of the authorities towards the young generation.
“The Police are doing their job but the authorities concerned should also see how the projects, institutions and industrial sectors have failed to provide job opportunities to the youth,” he continued.
