JAMMU, June 10: The Martyrdom day of Sri Guru Arjun Dev Ji, the fifth Guru of the Sikhs, was observed here today.
The event saw a significant gathering of devotees who came together to pay tribute to the great Guru, who is remembered for his ultimate sacrifice for the principles of humanity and religious sanctity.
The commemoration began with the recitation of Gurbani Kirtan by various esteemed Ragi Jathas, including Bhai Balvinder Singh Hauri Ragi Jatha from Sri Darbar Sahib Amritsar, Bhai Jagdev Singh, Bhai Amrik Singh Dhadi Jatha from Pathankot, and Katha Vachak Bhai Harbinder Singh Parcharak from the SGPC Amritsar.
Bhai Balwant Singh Ji Parcharak from SGPC also spoke, reflecting on Guru Arjun Dev Ji’s legacy as a chapter in history that exemplifies self-sacrifice, courage, and unwavering faith.
Additionally, children from Gurmat Vidyalaya Marh Bagh performed Shabad Kirtan, adding a youthful spirit to the solemn occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Balvinder Singh, Vice President of the District Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee (DGPC) Jammu, highlighted that the legacy of Guru Arjun Dev Ji continues to inspire Sikhs to uphold values such as justice, equality, and resilience in the face of adversity.
Avtar Singh, another member of the DGPC reiterated the importance of Guru Arjun Dev Ji’s teachings in modern times.
Mohan Lal and Raju Ji were also appreciated for their contributions, particularly in providing Langar Sewa, which included serving Kheer to the devotees.
The event was held under the patronage of Sant Tejwant Singh, the Dera Mukhi of Dera Sant Pura Danna, alongside other committee members such as Baldev Singh, Tejinder Singh Kaku, and Manjit Singh Domana, Amarjit Singh member SGSD international School.
As part of the commemoration, Guru Ka Langar was served to all attendees, along with Chhabeel and various other refreshments.
