JAMMU, June 12: Sher-e-Kashmir University ofAgricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST)-Jammu, is all set to host AgriThon 2024, a first for the Union Territories of Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh.
The event is being held under ICAR’s NAHEP World Bank project to motivate students from higher education institutions across J&K and Ladakh, to devise innovative, out-of-the-box solutions for real-world problems of agriculture and allied sectors.
This was announced by Prof B N Tripathi, Vice Chancellor of SKUAST-Jammu, while addressing a press conference, here today.
A dedicated portal for the AgriThon 2024 was also launched by the Vice Chancellor to ensure smooth submission of concepts notes and transparency in proceedings. Registration for the event is free of cost and can be done through the online portal https://skuast.org/AgriThon/ or by scanning the provided QR code.
The participants have been invited to submit concept notes that align with one of four thematic areas: ‘Innovations in Livestock, Dairying, Poultry, and Fish Farming’, ‘Innovations in Crop and Horticulture Farming’, ‘Innovations in Farm Mechanization, Digital Agriculture, and Automation’, and ‘Innovations in Post-Harvest Processes, Value Addition, Supply Chain, and Logistics’.
The last date for submitting the concept notes at level I is 25th June 2024. The final event will be held at SKUAST-Jammu, Main Campus Chatha on July 25, where each team will have 15 minutes for their technical presentation. Screened ideas will be evaluated by the high level committee on the basis of novelty, value proposition, market strategy, team composition, risk factors, and strategies to overcome these challenges.
Winners from each thematic area will be awarded cash prizes and citations. The cash prizes worth Rs 7.40 lakhs include Rs 1.0 lakh for the first position, Rs 50,000 for the second position, Rs 25,000 for the third position, and Rs. 10,000 for the fourth position.
During the press conference, media queries were addressed by Dr Amrish Vaid, Director Extension, and Dr Hema Tripathi, Associate Director Extension & Organising Secretary. Dr Manish Kumar, e-platform organizer, Dr Vikas Sharma, PI NAHEP & Organising Secretary; Dr Punit Choudhary, and Dr Pawan K Sharma, Co-Organising Secretaries, were also present during the press conference.
