UDHAMPUR, June 13:Fire broke out in the forest belt of Tarishi Block, Charat Pakhlai, Ghordi in Udhampur District this morning, prompting the authorities and local volunteers to swing into action.
The blaze erupted in the Charat Pakhlai forest area and rapidly spread over a large expanse of land, said Range Officer Sanjeev.
The Forest Department as well as the Fire and Emergency Services, alongside local volunteers, have launched an extensive firefighting operation in Tarishi Block and Ghordi.
There are no reports of any casualty or injury, officials said and added that the operation to douse the blaze was still underway.
Meanwhile, a house was completely gutted in accidental fire in ward number 20, near Triloki Nath Temple Udhampur.
Even as there was no loss of life or injuries to anyone, the house was completely gutted in the fire that broke out in the rental house of Nilam Devi. Cause of the fire could not be ascertained while property worth over Rs 5-6 lakh was lost in the incident.
