JAMMU, June 13: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) Scheduled Castes (SC) Cell in a meeting convened today under the leadership of Vijay Lochan, Chairman of the Cell at Palli Morh Bishnah, declared that party would intensify its activities to ensure thumping win of the party in next Assembly elections.
The meeting was held with an aim to review the post-election scenario following the recent Parliamentary polls and to strategize for the upcoming Assembly elections. On the occasion, Jagga Ram Bhagat, vice president of the Party SC Cell, Jammu Province, provided an in-depth briefing to the senior functionaries regarding the problems being faced by the marginalized sections of society. He highlighted the persistent issues affecting the depressed communities and underscored the necessity for urgent redressal. He pointed out the significant hardships faced by the youth residing in these regions, primarily due to the absence of a dedicated welfare policy for them.
Rakesh Singh Raka, vice president Central Zone, highlighted the hardships faced by farmers due to the unavailability of irrigation water and regular power supply for their fields. The scarcity of water and power supply is significantly impacting agricultural activities, leading to widespread discontent among the farming community. He assured the farmers that the MSP shall be given to them if NC voting in power.
Addressing the party workers, Vijay Lochan expressed grave concerns about the worsening conditions along the border areas in absence of elected Government in J&K. He said that the present dispensation has miserably failed to stand on the expectation of people of Jammu and Kashmir. Lochan criticized the Government’s inaction in initiating a recruitment drive for two Border Battalions as promised by the Govt, which could provide much-needed employment opportunities for the border youth.
“The youth in the border areas are grappling with severe difficulties due to the lack of targeted welfare policies,” Lochan observed, adding “The Government’s failure to launch a Border Battalion recruitment drive has left these young individuals without viable opportunities, exacerbating their plight.”
Looking ahead to the upcoming Assembly polls, Lochan emphasized the importance of these elections for the JKNC, especially in view of seven Assembly constituencies are reserved for Scheduled Castes. He termed the upcoming elections as crucial for the party’s objective to form the Government in J&K.
