Srinagar, June 15: The Sonamarg Development Authority (SDA) has implemented a new directive aimed at enhancing safety for tourists and locals, by prohibiting selfies near water bodies, particularly along the Hung area of Sonamarg.
The decision follows a concerning increase in incidents where individuals have lost their lives while attempting to take selfies in risky locations.
In this regard, signboards and hoardings have been prominently placed along the banks of the River Sindh, including popular spots like Gagangeer, Sonamarg, and Hung, known for their stunning natural beauty.
These areas have attracted visitors seeking to capture memorable selfies, but unfortunately, this has resulted in several accidents, including fatal ones.
The SDA, in collaboration with the District Administration of Ganderbal, has taken proactive steps to address this issue.
Clear warnings have been displayed on hoardings along the Hung stretch and other high-risk zones, emphasizing the message: No selfies near river banks.
