DODA, June 16: New Type Primary Health Centre (NTPHC) Jakyas here has shattered the high hopes which locals of the area had pinned on the medical institution for getting improved health facilities as the authorities have failed till date to depute even a single sanctioned MBBS doctor and ambulance for the Health Centre.
Lack of official care for the Health Centre from the higher-ups in Health Department has increased the sufferings of the locals and they are forced to visit Doda, Thathri, Gandoh and Kishtwar by travelling several kms to get medical treatment.
Mohammad Arif-a local said: “Leave aside the diagnostic facilities, the Health Centre even lacks an ambulance which itself speaks volumes about other required basic facilities expected from the Health Centre.”
He further said that at the time of any medical emergency no ambulance is available at the Health Centre and the needy people are forced to hire a private cab to shift their patients to Sub District Hospital Gandoh or District Hospital Doda.
Residents of Jakyas Block have asked about reasons for not deputing a doctor and for not providing other facilities at the Health Centre so far.
They have demanded the intervention of J&K LG, Manoj Sinha and Director Health Services, Jammu in this matter.
