CJM issues arrest warrant against Tehsildar

Srinagar, Mar 22: The Chief Judicial Magistrate Srinagar today issued an arrest warrant against Tehsildar North, Srinagar, for failing to be present in the court of law to explain the status of inquiry into the alleged death of a youth by Police torture.
The CJM directed Superintendent of Police, Srinagar to execute the arrest warrant of Tehsildar North. Last time court had directed Tehsildar North, Srinagar, to explain the steps taken in the inquest proceeding under Section 173 to ascertain the death of 17-year-old, Umar Qayoom Bhat, who according to his father died due to torture in Police Station Soura, three days after his release in 2010 unrest.
The Tehsildar failed to turn up before the Court and CJM issued arrest warrant against him to be executed by the SP Srinagar.
